This week something very rare happened: we ran out of sandwich bread. I know, I know, this sounds unbelievable coming from a bread-a-holic. I’ve been busy working on my latest A&E story for the Weekly, and I needed a fairly easy homemade white bread recipe that not only tasted better than store-bought bread, but could be made with my KitchenAid stand mixer with very little hands-on time. I adapted this recipe from Fun Cheap or Free:
This weekend, the city of Mountain View hosted their 44th Annual Art & Wine Festival in Downtown Mountain View. After a massive heat wave throughout the city, it was a pleasant surprise to see the clouds hanging low over the downtown area, as we spent an afternoon treating ourselves to local culinary delights.
Today was spent in El Dorado County, California, enjoying the beginning of apple season. I wish I had the same energy I did in my early 20s. Back then, I probably would have laughed at people for going to bed at 10 PM, especially when most of the day has been spent eating.
Sadly, I think the apple fritter, apple turnover, chocolate donut, caramel corn snacks, cheese fries, pint of apple cider champagne cocktail, pecan pie, and buffet dinner have done me in for the night. I am about to enter a food coma induced slumber.
Tomorrow-I will feature pictures from our trip, along with what to eat and where to eat. And I will be wearing stretchy pants.
